As a Medical Assistant at SMPC- St. Joseph location, you’ll be the friendly, professional face that welcomes patients and helps our healthcare team deliver top-quality, patient-centered care. What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll be an important part of our exceptional patient care team. Some of your day-to-day work will include:

Delivering Exceptional Patient Care

As an MA at SMPC, You’ll provide safe and efficient care, collecting assessment data and supporting patients’ physical, emotional, and educational needs. Working under RN supervision, you’ll draw on your people skills to stay calm and professional during emergencies, while ensuring accurate documents and proper records maintenance.

Collaborating and Communicating

You’ll team up with nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth, coordinated patient care and a seamless experience for every patient.

Maintaining Organization and Tech-Savviness

You’ll use our EMR and other software systems to keep patient records accurate, organized, and up to date.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

We’re looking for someone with a high school diploma (or equivalent) and recent relevant experience in a medical office. CPR certification is required (or must be obtained within 120 days). Completion of a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant/Medical Secretary program is a big plus.

You’re comfortable with EMR software, Microsoft Office, and other basic office technologies. You have excellent communication and patient care skills. You also stay calm under pressure, manage your time like a pro, and can handle multiple priorities with ease. You’re a team player who can also work independently.

Working Conditions and Requirements

  • Schedule: Full-time, generally Monday–Thursday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. EST, with occasional extended or outside hours as needed.
  • Location: In-person, primarily at our St. Joe office. May report to other locations for training or meetings.
  • Environment: Most work takes place indoors, with moderate to heavy computer use. Work may involve basic safety precautions common in a healthcare environment.
  • Requirements: Must be available to work scheduled hours, arrive on time, and be ready to work. Successful completion of a drug screen and criminal background check is required; random drug testing may also occur. Must maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a virtual office setting.
  • Physical Demands: This role requires regular movement throughout the day - standing, bending, lifting, and assisting with patient positioning or transfers. You should be comfortable lifting up to 60 lbs and using moderate physical strength as part of daily duties. This position also requires the ability to sit at a computer for extended periods and have adequate auditory and visual acuity to perform tasks safely and accurately.
